Hats, Glorious Hats!
Over Thanksgiving weekend I went to a pretty neat antique shop with my mom, aunt and cousin. Therein, I found the most AMAZING hat: it was a bucket-style forest green felt with a wide, round brim, and it had a band of multicolored feathers. I'm still kicking myself for not buying it!
After having this experience (and after one of my friends requested a blog post on hats) I thought, why not? I have been inspired by many a cool hat over the years.
Here are some prime examples from music, movies and Etsy shops that I particularly love:
Willie Nelson and his fantastic customized hat, on the back over of his album Stardust.
Christina Ricci working her uniform (and chic hat) on the new show Pan Am.
Kate Hudson as Penny Lane in the movie Almost Famous, wearing a particularly wonderful fur specimen.
A jaunty little hippie example for sale in my Etsy shop.

And another, this time a turban of which Professor Marvel would approve. | ||||||||||||

Trailer Trash Fash
The song? Okay.
The video? AMAZING.
I have to hand it to Beyonce; she's a beautiful woman with a natural figure and looks amazing in everything she puts on! I've always had a serious affection for "trailer trash fashion", and I think she works it like a charm. Check out the amazing (vintage-inspired) yellow fur coat, over-sized bows, cat eye sunglasses and bright colored leggings. SO chic, so on point!
Wanna get the look? We've got some cat eye glasses, hot heels, crop tops in stock, and furs on the way. :opNovember 14, 2011
The Sartorial Sixties: Made in Dagenham
Made in Dagenham (2010) was a pretty good movie. The late 1960's clothes and accessories, however, were better than good...They were phenomenal!
Check it out:
Loving the orange tank top and matching hot pants, as well as the white shoes. The green and orange shift dress is to die for, as well!
This beehive makes me want one of my own. It also makes me miss Amy Winehouse desperately. Can we talk about that cat eye makeup scenario, too? Amazing.
I think Rosamund Pike's character was my favorite in terms of style. She wore some impossibly chic frocks, not to mention THESE puppies (see above): some kind of seriously divine jade hoop earrings. *Swoon*!
Here's Rosamund again, looking tragically fashionable in a red dress and vintage car. Why do blondes get to look so amazing in red? Not fair! ;op
If you're in desperate need of cute cardigans, slimming A-line skirts and poppin' accessories from the late 60's, we've got some era-appropriate goodies percolating in here at the shop.
